*Karṇaphuli*.—The Karṇaphuli popularly known as the Kaincā is the largest of the three main rivers of Chittagong and Chittagong Hill Tracts. It rises from the Lushai Hills that connect the Chittagong Hill Tracts with the south-western part of Assam, and flows south-west down to Rāṅgāmāṭi, the headquarters of the Chittagong Hill Tracts. Between Rāṅgāmāṭi and Chittagong town this river is fed by a few small tributaries. It is navigable up to Rāṅgāmāṭi. For further details, vide B. C. Law, *Rivers of India*, p. 36.
