Kulāñca.—It is a town founded by the sage Kācara, which is identical with Kolāñca, Kroḍāñci or Kroḍāñja. This place seems to have been a stronghold of the Brāhmaṇas of the Śāṇḍilyagotra. Five ancestors of these Brāhmaṇas came to Vaṅga from Kolāñca at the invitation of king Ādiśūra for the performance of a Vedic sacrifice. This place seems to have been situated on the Ganges (E.I., XXIV, Pt. III, July, 1937). Some hold that it is situated in eastern or northern India.
