Sitākuṇḍa.—It is a village in the Chittagong district, 24 miles north of Chittagong town. It gives its name to a range of hills running north from Chittagong town, which reaches its highest elevation at Sītākuṇḍa. It is the holiest place of the Hindus in the Chittagong district, for tradition states that Rāma and Sītā, while in exile, roamed about on the hills in the vicinity and that Sītā bathed in the hot spring which is associated with her name.
