Dāmalipti is described in the Daśakumāracarita as having been a city of the Suhmas (Ch. VI, J.A.S.B., 1908, 290 n.). A great festival took place outside the city of Dāmalipti in the Suhma country, which had a childless king named Tuṅgadhanvā who prayed for two children at the feet of Pārvatī (Daśakumāracaritam, ed. Wilson, pp. 141-142).
