In the kingdom of Anga there were many towns, such as Āpaṇa⁹ and Bhaddiyanagara where Viśākhā, the daughter of Sumanādevī, lived.¹⁰ The way from Bhaddiya to Āpaṇa lay through Aṅguttarāpa, obviously a lowland.¹¹ There was another town of the Aṅgas named Assapura which was visited by the Buddha.¹²
