Fu-nan, which exercised suzerain authority over the kingdom of Tuen-siun, was itself an important market town where met the traders from India and China. It was the oldest Hindu colonial kingdom in this region known so far, and the first to build up an empire. It is not unlikely that it was the result of the same process of colonization which we find at work in later times in Tuen-siun.
