This tradition is of more than passing interest. In the first place nobody can mistake its resemblance to the older legend of the first Kauṇḍinya. We are told that this second Kauṇḍinya came directly from India, and we may presume that the same was true of the first Kauṇḍinya, though this is nowhere clearly stated.
