Henceforth the rulers of Fu-nan had clear Sanskritic names. The name of king Ch’e-li-t’o-pa-mo who sent embassies to China in A.D. 434, 435 and 438, is obviously a Chinese transliteration of an Indian name like Śrī-Indra-varman or Śreṣṭha-varman. The next king, mentioned in Chinese sources, is called Cho-ye-pa-mo, whose family name was Kauṇḍinya. The Chinese form evidently stands for Jaya-varman, who was a descendant of Kauṇḍinya II.
