From the 6^th century CE onwards there appeared several Chinese texts which mentioned Indian medicine, and especially Nagarjuna's ophthalmology. Also three prominent works on ophthalmology which appeared in China over a period of some four-five centuries were related to Indian medicine. Firstly, during Tang Dynasty there appeared *Indian Classic of Ophthalmology* compiled in 752 CE. A little later, there was another text by Bodhisattva Nagarjuna entitled 'Treatise on Ophthalmology' which must have been written around the mid-8th century CE.¹⁷ This is the one which was mentioned in the poems mentioned earlier. Then yet another work appeared early in 12th century CE by the name 'Nagarjuna's complete treatise'¹⁸.
