The *Bṛhadāraṇyaka Upanishad* is the oldest and longest of the Upanishads. It elaborates systematically on the central concept of the Brahmanist philosophy: Brahman, including the essence of Brahman, the indescribability of Brahman, the two types of Brahman, and the relationship between Brahman and Atman, while also covering a variety of other topics such as the creation of the world, life after death, ascetic austerities, abstinence and release.
