Ruins of Śrāvastī in 1862. Its geographical location is in northeast Uttar Pradesh in Sahet (modern Gonda district) and Mahet (modern Baharaich district), along the bank of River Rapti, which led to the creation of a modern Shravasti district with the Bhinga town as its headquarters by carving out Bharaich and Gonda districts. It is about 150 km away from Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh.
