Jain metaphysics is based on seven truths or fundamental principles, also known as tattva or navatattva, which are an attempt to explain the nature and solution to the human predicament. The knowledge of these truths is essential for the liberation of the soul. Accordingly, *Tattvarthadhigamasutra* first proposed the Seven Tattvas which includes *Jiva*, *Ajiva*, *Asrava*, *Bandha*, *Samvara*, *Nirjara* and *Moksa*.
