After Kamala Lakshman’s sisters visited China in the 1950s, there have been many Indian Bharatnatyam dancers who went to China for performances, including Indrani Rahman (1955), Mrinalini Sarabhai (1978), Rukmini Devi (1984), Leela Samson (1984, 2002, 2008), Mallika Sarabhai (2002), Rama Vaidyanathan (2012) and Sonal Mansingh (2012).
