The Kaṅkas (M.B. II, 47, 26) may probably be identified with the Ka'ng-Kiu⁴⁴—the inhabitants of Sogdiana, placed in the company of Śakas and Tukhāras. The Ka'ng-kiu according to Chang-kien were under the political influence of Yüe-Chï⁴⁵ on the south and on the east under that of Hiung-nu.
