In connection with the name Daśārṇa, it is interesting to note that the *Periplus of the Erythraean Sea*⁵ places ‘the region of Dosarene yielding the ivory known as Dosarenic’ towards the east of Masalia (i.e. the country around Masulipatam in Andhra).
