To the three lectures, originally delivered at the University of Madras, have been added several appendices mostly containing geographical extracts from well-known works, which are expected to give the reader some idea about the nature and value of the foreign sources of early Indian geography. The work is now placed in the hands of the students of Indology with the further addition of an exhaustive Index besides a few diagrams and maps.
