The description of Jarāsandha in the Mahābhārata reminds us of the summary account of Mahāpadma Nanda in the Purāṇas (Pargiter, The Purāṇa Text of the Dynasties of the Kali Age, p. 25). It has to be noticed that Jarāsandha is conspicuous by his non-mention in the Vedic literature.
