Vaśa—placed in the Middle Country by the *Aitareya Brāhmaṇa* along with the Kuru, Pañcāla and Uśīnara, the *Kauṣitaki Upaniṣad* associating them with the Matsya and the *Gopatha Brāhmaṇa* uniting them with the Uśīnara; regarded by some scholars as identical with the Vatsas of post-Vedic literature.
