1. Kāmpīla—mentioned in the *Yajurveda*; later spelt as Kāmpilya which was the capital of South Pañcāla; identified with modern Kampil in the Farrukhabad District, U.P. Other Pañcāla cities were Paricakrā (Parivakrā) and probably Kauśāmbā.
