Pūrva-Videha and Apara-Godāna are each 7,000 yojanas in extent. Apara-Godāna, like the other continents, is said to have 500 islands and is inhabited by men who have no houses. It has a Kadamba-tree at the centre, whose trunk is 15 yojanas in girth and whose branches cover 50 yojanas in extent. At sunrise in Jambu-dvīpa, it is midnight in Apara-Godāna, and sunset in the latter is midnight in the former, while sunrise in Apara-Godāna is noon in Jambu-dvīpa, sunset in Pūrva-Videha and midnight in Uttara-Kuru. A Cakravartin (such as Māndhātṛ) would first conquer Pūrva-Videha, next Jambu-dvīpa, then Apara-Godāna and finally Uttara-Kuru.
