Sometimes the varṣas, excluding Bhārata, are given a mythical character as we have mentioned already specially in connection with Uttara-Kuru. Thus it is said, “And in these lands, the ages do not exist, nor bodily nor mental sicknesses ; nor is there any undertaking involving merit or demerit there.”⁷⁹
