2. Vaṅga—lived in the deltaic region of Southern Bengal. The Greeks mention them as Gangaridae who had their capital at the city of Gange or Ganges (Gaṅgā) which reminds us of the name of Gaṅgāsāgara near the confluence of the Bhāgirathī (Hooghly) and the Bay of Bengal.
