v1.c10.29
The "white water" of this district is referred to by other authorities. Thus Alberuni¹ quotes Jīvaśarman to the effect that "in the country of Svāt, opposite the district of Kiri(?) there is a valley in which 53 streams unite; during the 26th and 27th days of the month Bhādrapadā the water of this valley becomes white, in consequence of Mahādeva's washing in it, as people believe". According to the Fang-chih it was the rains which the dragon sent that made the water plague.
