Of the irregular forms ◡ ◡ — is ten times as common as ◡ ◡ ◡, and therefore the former form in the first three groups is not very markedly less common than either of the forms ◡ — ◡, ◡ ◡ —. More strictly therefore we should say that ◡ ◡ ◡ is irregular throughout the Rigveda, and ◡ ◡ ◡ - in the Gāyatrī and epic Anuṣṭubh groups.
