Although the ‘*Indravajrā*’ verse (illustrated in § 206) never becomes established as the basis of an independent metre, it holds a position of such prominence amongst the various forms of Triṣṭubh verse that it may fairly be considered as the dominant type which has emerged from the competition of numerous Vedic rivals.
