The series of "seven" and its derivatives belongs to the class of early Tadbhavas, in so far as it has everywhere lost its first member प्. This is only natural; a numeral being, next to a pronoun, the most commonly used description of word, and hence not to be changed by authoritative interference, such as I have assumed in the case of modern Tadbhavas.
