—Nouns in इ and उ. The nom. pl. has a form made up according to the analogy of neuter nouns or nouns ending in इन्; as अग्गिणो and साहुणो. This does not exist in the Pâli, the analogy being there extended to the gen. and loc. sing. only. The Prâkṛit has also the two Pâli forms अग्गी and अग्गयो, which latter is transformed into अग्गओ and अग्गउ ; and साहु and साहवो, the latter appearing also in the form of साहओ and साहउ. The acc. pl. has also the neuter form अग्गिणो or साहुणो in addition to the Pâli अग्गी or साहु. Besides the general forms mentioned above, the abl. has in the sing. the neuter form अग्गिणो or साहुणो also. The Pâli loc. sing. अग्गिणि does not appear. The other forms of these nouns are like those in the older dialect. The voc. sing. is अग्गि or साहु as in Pâli, and अग्गी or साहू. We here see the analogy of neuter nouns or nouns ending in इन् extended to all vowel cases except the loc. sing.
