v1.c30.12
Although well-known for his *Kāvya-prakāśa*, which helped to establish finally and exclusively the doctrines of the Kashmiriian school of Ānandavardhana, Mammaṭa is also the author of a less known work entitled the *Śabdavyāpāra-paricaya* which, as its name implies, is a short dissertation on the expressive functions (*vṛtti*) of words. Mammaṭa, like most writers on Poetics, was also well-versed in the allied science of grammar, proficiency in which he also displays in the larger work.
