75. VIŚVANĀTHA *Sāhitya-sudhā-sindhu* (Aufrecht ii 171a, 234a). This South Indian author, who wrote in Benares, was the son of Trimala or Trimalla Deva and grandson of Ananta of Dhārāsura city on the Godāvarī. Stein’s Kashmiriān MS¹ is dated in 1602 A.D.² He quotes at the beginning of his work from Mammaṭa and Bhoja, and elsewhere cites Caṇḍīdāsa (probably the same as the commentator on Mammaṭa) and Mahimabhaṭṭa. The work is in eight taraṅgas. Viśvanātha also wrote a drama called *Mrgāṅkalekhā*.
