⁴³ *atrūrye rasa-vicāra-mukhe*, ed. Kāyamālā p. 67. The line is wanting in Grosset's edition. Keśava Miśra, a comparatively recent writer of the 16th century, speaks of one *bhagavān Śauddhodani* who, according to him, was a *sūtra-kāra* on *rasa*: but the opinions of this otherwise unknown writer (see Vol. I, p. 262), as recorded by Keśava Miśra, do not deviate materially from the conventional views of those later writers of the new school who admit the essentiality of *rasa*.
