*P. 79, l. 13.* Bhaṭṭendurāja, on the other hand, apparently approved of the new doctrine of *dhvani*; for Abhinava (*Locana* p. 2) tells us that this teacher of his explained to him the *maṅgala*-verse of Ānanda's *vṛtti* in the light of the *dhvani*-theory. The only instance where the two Indurājas are confused or identified occurs in Samudrabandha p. 132; but this is no strong evidence.
