The अग्निपुराण makes a profound observation that poets are rare and that even among poets ‘śakti’ (imagination) is rarer still (नरत्वं दुर्लभं लोके विद्या तत्र सुदुर्लभम् । कवित्वं दुर्लभं तत्र शक्तिस्तत्र सुदुर्लभा ॥ अग्नि० chap. 337. 3-4)
