Siddhasena Gaṇi’s com. (p. 94) on *Tattvārtha* (I, 20) also throws light on this topic. There it is said: “वस्तूनि पूर्वस्यैवाषोडल्पः, वस्तुनः प्राभृतमल्पतरं, प्राभृतात् प्राभृतप्राभृतमल्पतरं, ततोऽप्ययनं ग्रन्थतोऽल्पतरं, तत् उद्देशतोऽल्पतर इति ।”
