³ I do not know if there is any Śvetāmbara source which defines *pada*. But in *The Sacred Books of the Jainas* (vol. II, p. 29), a *madhyama-pada* is said to consist of 16, 34, 83, 07, 888 letters, and on pp. 29-31, are given the specific numbers of these *madhyamapadas* for one and all the 12 *Aṅgas*.
