‘As she wanders in terror in the forest, o King, the simple queen of Gūrjara’s lord gazes ever at her husband’s blade in her craving for water; has she not heard many a time the minstrels chant, “The hosts of the foe, o lord, have been drowned in the whirlpool of battle raised by the torrent of thy glaive”?’ The unfortunate lady is misled by the ambiguity of the term *magnāni* and of *dhārā*, which means both torrent and edge of a sword.
