² The supposed Tamil version of the 2nd cent. A. D. (S. K. Aiyangar, *Ancient India*, pp. 328, 337) is too dubious in date to be evidence. The alleged version into Sanskrit by Durvinīta (? 6th cent.) is quite dubious (R. Narasimhachar, JRAS. 1913, pp. 389 f.); see Fleet, JRAS. 1911, pp. 186-8.
