The Khilas, or supplementary hymns, are omitted in the Anukramaṇīs of Śaunaka and Kātyāyana, though they were known to both; Śaunaka, however, excludes them more strictly than Kātyāyana.¹ The latter has admitted the eleven Vālakhilya-hymns, and thus brings the total number of hymns to 1028.
