The colophon reads: इति श्रीमहापुराण वायुप्रोक्ते द्वादशसाहस्र्यां संहितायां ब्रह्माण्डावतं समाप्तं । . . . समाप्तं वायुपुराणपूर्वार्धम् । अतःपरं रेवामाहात्म्यं भविष्यति । All MSS, however, are unanimous in calling the Vāyu Purāṇa as द्वादशसाहस्री संहिता. MS No. 3599 in Eggeling's Catalogue ends: इति श्रीवायुपुराणे लक्ष्मीसंहितायां आनन्दकाननमाहात्म्ये . . . It thus appears that there were some Saṃhitās of the Vāyu Purāṇa which are not found included in the MSS of the Vāyu Purāṇa.
