The pleonastic ক formerly served as the mere termination of a word and was not reckoned as a case-affix. Hence in old Bengali this কে is often affixed to words in various cases; as in “ মথুরাকে পাঠাইল রূপ সনাতন।” (Chaitanya Charitāmrita) and “ কাঁধকে রুমাল করি হাসয়ে মুরারি” (Çrikriṣṇa Vijaya), where it forms the termination of the words in the locative case.
