∗ This may imply that the Sûrya Siddhânta was in existence at the time when the libration theory was started. I think it was. But it has been suggested that the libration theory might have been subsequently inserted therein (see Whitney's Sur. Sid., p. 104). It is not, however, necessary to make any supposition regarding the existence of the Surya Siddhânta at this time, as almost all other Siddhântas give the same bhoga, viz., 63° for Mrigashiras.
