∗ Páņini, iv. 3. 105, directly mentions 'older (*puráņaprokta*) Bráhmaņas;' and in contradistinction to these there must, of course, have been in existence in his day 'more modern (or as the scholiast says, *tulyakála*) Bráhmaņas.'
