Still scantier is the information we possess upon the *Gṛihya-Sútras* of the Black Yajus. The *Káṭhaka Gṛihya-Sútra* is known to me only through quotations, as are also the Sútras of *Baudháyana* (extant in the Fort-William collection), of *Bháradvája*, and of *Satyásháḍha*, or *Hiraṇyakeśi*, unless in this latter case only the corresponding *praśnas* of the Kalpa-Sútra are intended.¹¹¹ I have myself only glanced through a Paddhati of the Gṛihya-Sútra of the *Maitráyaṇíya* school, which treats of the usual subject (the sixteen *saṃskáras*, or sacraments). I conclude that there must also have been a Gṛihya-Sútra¹¹² of the *Mánava* school, from the existence of the Code bearing that name,¹¹³ just as the Codes ascribed to Atri, Ápastamba, Chhagaleya, Baudkáyana, Laugákshi, and Śátyáyana are probably to be traced to the schools of the same name belonging to the Black Yajus, that is to say, to their Gṛihya-Sútras.¹¹⁴
