That the eleventh *káṇḍa* is a supplement to the first nine is sufficiently evident from its contents. The first two *adhyáyas* treat of the sacrifices at the new and full moon; the four following, of the morning and evening sacrificial fires, of the sacrifices at the three seasons of the year, of the inauguration of the pupil by the teacher (*áchárya*), of the proper study of the sacred doctrines, &c.; and the last two, of the sacrifices of animals. The *Ṛigveda*, *Yajurveda*, and *Sámaveda*, the *Atharváṅgirasas*, the *anuśásanas*, the *vidyás*, the *vákovákya*, the *itihásapuráṇa*, the *náráśaṅsís*, and the *gáthás* are named as subjects of study.
