‡ Translated in *I. St.*, ii. 176–181. [Text and Náráyaṇa’s comm. in *Bibl. Ind.*, 1872; described in the introd. as *pañchaviṅśí*. There is also a commentary upon it by Śaṃkaránanda; see Rájendra L. M. i. 92.—The *Kaṭhaśruti*, also, is edited in *Bibl. Ind.* (1873), with Nárāyaṇa's commentary; although under the name Kaṇṭha°, it is clear from Nárāyaṇa's words in his introduction, *Yajurvede tu Charaká dvádaśai 'shá kaṇṭháśrayaḥ* (!) | *saṃnyásopanishattulyá chatuḥkhaṇḍá kṛitá* (!) *śrutiḥ* || that this mode of spelling here, as well as in Burnell's *Catalogue*, p. 60, is a mere mistake, and that Nárāyaṇa himself connected the Upanishad with the Kaṭhas; see also Bühler, *Catalogue of MSS. from Guj.*, i. 58.]
