²⁵ In the Ṛik-Prát., xi. 33, merely Bábhravya; only in Úaṭa's scholium is he designated as a Pañchála. As, however, the Pañchálas are twice quoted as an authority in the text of the Ṛik-Prátiśákhya itself, viz., ii. 12, 44, and that beside the Práchyas (people of the east), the above conclusions still hold good. See Regnier on Ṛik-Pr., ii. 12, p. 113. Compare also Śáṅkh. Śr., xii. 13. 6 (*pañchálapadavṛittiḥ*), and Saṃhitopanishad-Bráhmaṇa, § 2 (*sarvatra Práchya·Páñchálíshu muktam, sarvatrá 'muktam*).
