Abhidhammapiṭaka, “basket of the higher subtleties of the doctrine.”² The texts contained in this section, like those of the Suttapiṭaka, deal with the religion (dhamma); but they do so after a more learned and catechistical fashion, in the form of dry enumerations and formal divisions, which refer chiefly to the psychological foundations of Buddhist ethics.
