¹ Upasampadā-Kammavācā, formularies for admission into the Order. These were first published by *F. Spiegel* (Kammavakya, liber de officiis sacerdotum Buddhicorum, Bonnae ad. Rh. 1841), with Latin translation, then by J. F. *Dickson* (JRAS 1875, p. 1 ff.) with English translation. The last-named also describes the ceremony of admission, as it is still performed to-day in Ceylon. Other Kammavācā have been published and translated by *O. Frankfurter*, Handbook of Pāli, London, 1883, Herbert *Baynes* (JRAS 1892, p. 53 ff. ; cf. also p. 380), *Śarat Candra Das* in JASB 63, Part I, 1894, p. 20 ff. and G. L. M. *Clauson* (JPTS 1906-1907, pp. 1-7).
