v2.c19.s3.t1.156
³ Majjhimanikāya, 129; Saṃyuttanikāya, 56, 47 f. The simile is very popular also in Buddhist Sanskrit literature (s. *Winternitz*, WZKM 27, 1913, 43 ff.) and it occurs also in the Yoga-Vāsiṣṭha (s. G. A. *Jacob*, JRAS 1909, p. 1120 f.). The simile has nothing in common with the “camel going through the eye of a needle,” which G. *de Lorenzo* and K. E. *Neumann* (Reden Gotamo Buddho’s III, 334 note) have derived from it.
