v2.c19.s6.t3.117
A work of ornate poetry which deals once more with the life of Buddha, and which concludes with the same episode as Book XIII of the Buddha-Carita, is the Sanskrit epic Padyacūḍāmaṇi,² ascribed to a man named Buddhaghoṣa. The author of this Mahākāvya (in 10 Sargas) is certainly not the famous commentator, but some Buddhaghoṣa, who knew the epics of Aśvaghoṣa and Kālidāsa, and made liberal use of them,³ or perhaps an anonymous writer, who simply assumed the name of Buddhaghoṣa.
