¹ Cf. S. *Lévi* in JA 1908, s. 10, t. XII, 91 ff., 184. *Huber* (in BEFEO, 4, 1904. pp. 709 ff.) has traced three stories in the Divyāvadāna. The Sautrāntikas originated with the Sarvāstivādins, and it is therefore no contradiction for Kumāralāta, as a Sautrāntika, to honour the Sarvāstivāda teachers. (Cf. *Lüders*, l.c., p. 22.)
